The 5 Best StormBlade Surfboards
#1 StormBlade 7ft Surfboard
There’s plenty to love about the 7ft StormBlade soft top surfboard.
If you’re unsure about whether you're a longboard or shortboard surfer, the StormBlade 7ft is a great middle option.
At 7 ft, this board is easy to paddle into any size wave from ankle high to overhead, but it still is small enough to turn on the wave face.
Whatever type of waves you’re comfortable surfing, you’ll have no problem catching them on this board.
One thing we love about this board is its shape. With plenty of nose rocker, it’s difficult to nosedive on this board when paddling for waves which makes it a great board for any skill level.
The 7ft StormBlade is also ready to go from the moment you get your hands on it. With included fins that are attached by bolts through the board, you’ll be able to easily install the fins and get riding. The through-board bolting also helps your board's durability since you won’t have to worry about your fins falling out or becoming loose.
Another great thing about the StormBlade is that you won’t need to wax it to have fun. This board is ready to go right away so you can paddle out and get your stoke on immediately.
The 5ft 6 Swallow Tail board is a great option for the more experienced rider or a smaller rider.
Since there’s less board, it won’t float as well but this board has way more maneuverability which will help you shred harder.
The outline on this board does a lot to help you do radical surfing. The swallow tail gives you a smaller pivot point so that you can easily turn but also offers more control on the wave face like a pintail board.
It’s like the best of both worlds when it comes to tail design!
The 5ft 6 Swallow tail StormBlade has a thruster set up. This fin alignment offers the best balance of stability and turning. With these options you’ll have no problem progressing your surfing on this StormBlade board.
If you’re worried about pushing your board too hard because of either your riding style or the waves you ride, don’t with the 5ft 6 Swallow Tail. With its EPS core and double stringer, this board stands up to heavy use and will fly down the line.
The StormBlade 8ft board is a solid option for anyone learning how to surf.
With a little extra paddle power from the extra length, this board is easy to balance on and glides onto any wave.
The 3x Marine-Ply Stringers on this board helps it last through anything you put it through. The stringers also make sure that the board stays stiff after use.
You won’t notice this board warping on the water since it has the stringers.
The 8ft board also has a layer of high impact resistant ethylene on the bottom so it’s ready for whatever you can throw at it.
Whether you're surfing over a shallow reef or in shorebreak that carries you onto the sand, this board will stand up to what you put it through.
We like how the leash on this board attaches to the back fin plugs. We’ve found that this prevents the leash from ripping out and gives more control after you’ve lost the board.
The fish outline is a tried and true shape that has its origins in the late 60s. It’s great for loose turns on long walls, but can hold its own in any type of surf or surfing style.
The 5ft8 Modern Retro Fish harnesses all of the benefits of the fish shape with a few modern twists.
The Modern Retro fish is a quad fin so it’s more stable than the original twin fin fish.
But the quad fin on the 5ft8 Modern Retro Fish still helps the board feel loose and fast while allowing for arcing turns.
If you’re feeling really comfortable on your board or if you just want to know what surfing in the early 70s felt like, you can even ride this board as a twin fin.
Just take out the two back fins and you can ride the Modern Retro fish as a retro twin fin fish.
At 5ft8, this board is great for more high performance surfing. Once it’s on the wave face, you’ll find that the length and fin set up allows for easy turning and high performance surfing.
If you want to catch any wave you paddle for or are looking for a board to get you through the small doldrums of summer surfing, look no further than the 10ft StormBlade.
With a massive volume, this board will catch any wave and is especially great for beginning surfers.
Make no mistake, this board is a classic longboard and should be approached as one. It won’t turn on a dime but will be great at any longboard break. If you like walking the nose or drawn out turns, this board is for you.
One great thing with the 10ft StormBlade is that it has incredible fin options. If you want to ride this board as a thruster, you can.
But it also has a large back fin making this board perfect for riding as a single fin set up.
One negative about this board is that it’s so long, it can be difficult to ride in steep waves. When the waves get bigger or more quick, there is too much length to properly ride heavier waves.
Final Verdict - Which Should You Buy?
Overall, we’re pretty amped on the StormBlade foam soft top surfboards. That being said, we recommend the 7ft board. We think that it’s the most versatile. Whether you already rip or are just getting started, it can easily catch waves and turn so it’s perfect for almost every surfer.
